Young Living’s proprietary Thieves® essential oil blend was inspired by the legend of four 15th-century French thieves who formulated and wore a special aromatic combination of clove, rosemary, and other botanicals that they believed provided protection while they were stealing from both the living and the dead. When they were eventually arrested, the French authorities recognised that there was such value in this mixture that the thieves received a more merciful punishment on the condition that they revealed the ingredients in their secret formula. And so, a modern-day must-have was created from a legendary fable.

One of the reason Thieves® is so popular is because it is incredibly versatile. For topical use, we recommend applying Thieves® on your neckline for a spicy-scented perfume, combining a drop of Thieves® with a carrier oil such as Young Living V-6® for an invigorating foot or back massage experience or adding a few drops of Thieves® to a warming bath with Epsom salts for a luxurious, spa-like experience.
As Thieves® is expertly made with five potent herbs and botanicals—Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus Radiata, and Rosemary—its fragrance is warming, inviting, comforting, and spicy.
If you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication, or have a medical condition, we always recommend consulting a health care professional prior to using any essential oils.
Our essential oils are typically formulated for cosmetic use on humans and any blends that are suitable for use on animals are highlighted in our Animal Scents® range.
Our ultra-concentrated Thieves® Household Cleaner is perfect for use on virtually every surface in your home, including carpets, floors, counters, glass, walls, and more. It is also safe to use around children and pets when used as directed. It can be diluted with water in a spray bottle or bucket, or used straight for extra strength, but dilution ratios for individual uses are listed on the bottle’s label.
Thieves® Laundry Soap can be used in all washers, including high-efficiency washers, and its highly concentrated formula (6X) can provide around 21 loads of laundry. To ensure a thorough clean, individual garment care labels should be followed but we recommend the following amounts:
Water Hardness: Soft — Normal Soiling: 30 ml; Heavy Soiling: 45 ml.
Water Hardness: Medium — Normal Soiling: 45 ml; Heavy Soiling: 60 ml.
Water Hardness: Hard — Normal Soiling: 60 ml; Heavy Soiling: 75 ml.
The surfaces that can be cleaned with individual Thieves® products depend on the ingredients listed in each product. For the most part, our Thieves® household cleaning range can be used on most surfaces, but we recommend checking the label for full instructions prior to use.
Our favourite thing about our Thieves® household cleaning range is that our products are catered to just about every chore in your home. From our Thieves Household Cleaner® which can be applied to a variety of surfaces to our Thieves® Laundry Soap which promises to leave your clothes smelling fresh, our products can be used to clean every room of your home.
When used as directed, there should not be any adverse effects on your plants if you use the product to clean your home, but we do not suggest applying the product to your plants directly.
